Replacement Fascia

This product and method of installation is used for both new build and refurbishment applications. Replacement fascia boards must be a minimum of 18mm thick, this ensures that the fascia board is robust enough to support the roof tiles and to give a good fixing to support the gutter system. For refurbishment projects the installation process will involve removing the existing fascia to reveal the roof rafters. The replacement fascia board is then fixed to the rafter feet with stainless steel ring shanked nails. Replacement fascia can be installed onto flat roofs as well, however this might involve re constructing the felt edges of the roof.

Roof Technology offers a wide range of full replacement fascias in a choice of styles, sizes and colours to suit any building design. Whether for new-build or renovation, homeowners have a choice of plain, ogee, square edged, or round nosed fascia boards 18mm and 25mm full replacement boards. All fascia systems come complete with matching corners, joiners and end caps, and a selection of roofline accessories to ad that finishing touch to any property. We now offer 2 new scalloped decorative fascias in convex and concave styles for quick, easy and stylish applications.

Capping Fasciar

This type of product must be used in conjunction with a backing fascia, as these boards are not strong enough to support tiles and guttering. it is essential that capping fascia be fixed to sound timber boards that are free from rot. the most common use for this type of board is to over clad existing timber fascia on flat roofs.

Roof Technology offer a wide range of capping facia in a choice of styles, sizes and colours to suit any building design and improve the appearance of any eaves or gable. Whether for new-build or renovation, homeowners have a choice of plain, ogee, square edged, or round nosed fascia boards in 8mm and 10mm widths for capping or supported installations. All fascia systems come complete with matching corners, joiners and end caps and a selection of roofline accessories to add that finishing touch to any property. We now offer two new scalloped decorative fascias in convex and concave styles for quick, easy and stylish applications

Soffit

Soffits are an integral part of the roofline system enclosing and protecting the underside of the roof edge, roof technology can install products that will provide ventilation to loft area to minimise the risk of trapped moist air. they provide a highly effective and visually appealing long-term solution to regular maintenance.

Roof Technology can install a solid 10mm general-purpose board in a range of sizes and colours from 100mm to 605mm board, which is particularly useful for deep soffit applications such as porches.

Hollow soffit is another popular product because of its attractive panelled tongue and groove effect. the hollow soffit range comes in a choice of colours to match the fascias. Ventilation accessories can be installed if required.

Over Fascia Ventilation

The most common ventilation system that we use is a 25mm continuous vent that is fixed discretely to the top edge of the fascia board allowing the efficient flow of air through the eaves. This is a maintenance free ventilation option that alleviates the need to install unsightly ventilation into soffit runs.

Eaves Protection

This item is a extruded plastic drip that is fixed underneath the roofing felt, it creates a drip between the roof tiles and gutter ensuring that all the water from the tiles is directed into the gutters and also supports the roof sarking felt between rafters.

Roof Technology is an approved installer for the unique Mustang aluminium rainwater systems these high volume gutters can be extruded on site in lengths up to 30 metres resulting in a stylish guaranteed leak free installation. These can all be installed in conjunction with standard PVC-U downpipes or to give the final finish why not fit aluminium downpipes.

Mustang gutters are roll-formed on site to produce a tailor made robust, seamless gutter from 0.9mm thick aluminium. The aluminium is pre-coated both sides with a tough durable and long lasting paint finish. it is produced on site to the precise dimensions of the building, enabling runs of up to 30 metres to be produced alleviating the need for joints.

Polycarbonate locking corners are 90°, & 135° both internal and external and are made from durable injection-moulded colour co-ordinated polycarbonate. Fitted in two parts to pre-cut mitres, the corners are sealed and fastened together using stainless steel screws. These have proved to be highly successful in providing guaranteed leak-proof joints.

Stop ends are made in polycarbonate; the stop end caps are specially designed to snap-fit over the gutter end, which is then sealed.

The gutter is fixed with internal supports, this discreet stainless steel fixing system adds strength and rigidity to the gutter, this creates uninterrupted continuous clean lines, to ensure a crisp clean finish.

Rainwater is discharged via 60mm or 70mm leaf trapped outlets; these will drain into round or square down pipes.

The Mustang aluminium guttering supplied and installed by Roof Technology has proven its guaranteed longevity. It is the only seamless aluminium gutter system with BBA accreditation, giving a life expectancy in excess of 30 years.

Product Overview

Freefoam roofline and cladding profiles are made from cellular PVC-UE (unplasticised expanded cellular polyvinyl chloride) foam, co-extruded as a durable PVC-U skin with a rigid closed cell core. They contain no CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) or lead and are therefore formulated to be completely non-hazardous to health. Freefoam fixings are manufactured from corrosion-resistant stainless steel.

Standards

Freefoam roofline and cladding products are manufactured in accordance with two recognised standards:

The Foam Profiles
  • British Standard specification BS 7619: 1993
  • Specification for extruded cellular unplasticised PVC profiles
The Fasteners
  • British Standard specification BS 6105: 1981
  • Specification for corrosion-resistant stainless steel fasteners
The Manufacturing Process
  • The international standard for Quality Assurance BS EN ISO 9002: 1994 (BS 5750: Pt 2).

Density

Stability in this context is resistance to chemical and/or biological reaction. Cellular PVC-UE is not affected by liquids or other substances in everyday use and is resistant to attack by acids and alkalis. It is generally described as being resistant to attack by wood-boring insects, termites or woodworm. It does not support the growth of fungus or bacteria. It may be subject to damage by a range of chemicals, generically known as esters, ketones and solvents.

Colour Fastness

The methods of test for colour fastness contained in British Standard specification BS 1006: A03: 1978 include gradings down to a minimum value for colour change of Grade 8 - Freefoam white profiles all achieve either Grade 7 or 8, meaning that any fading or change in whiteness over a minimum 20 years will be within an acceptable range. Freefoam white profiles have demonstrated, in test conditions, excellent resistance to discolouration, and also to a degradation known as "pinking", which is generally believed to be related to processes involving Titanium Dioxide and Lead stabilisers. Freefoam co-extrusions instead use an advanced technology lead-free stabiliser which has superior resistance to discolouration.

Coloured profiles and associated products use organic pigments, chosen for their colourfast properties. Any fading experienced will be gradual and uniform - only detectable when compared with new materials.

Durability

The denseness of the outer skin ensures adequate resistance to impact, thus ensuring a highly durable surface. Freefoam fixings are manufactured from Marine Grade stainless steel, the most corrosion-resistant material and thus not prone to rusting or, as a consequence, the staining of cellular profiles.

Fire Resistance

Resistance to the spread of fire can only apply to a completed assembly but not to its components.

Profiles have been tested for compliance with the Flame Retardance requirements of British Standard BS 476:

  • Pt 5: 1979 Ignitability Test - self-extinguishing;
  • Pt 6: 1989 Resistance to Fire Propagation - Class 1;
  • Pt 7:1987 Resistance to Spread of Flame - Class 1Y

Strength

The strength of Freefoam profiles and associated products cannot be measured as such, because strength is a characteristic of an assembly. Thus the resistance to wind loads is entirely dependent on variable factors such as profile configuration/thickness and the spacing of fixings. When fixed in accordance at the recommended spacings, the roofline and cladding systems have adequate resistance to wind loadings. Up to two storeys height, fixing spacings should not exceed 600 mm centres, and from two storeys to a maximum of five storeys, 400 mm centres.

Thermal Insulation

Thermal resistivity is normally referred to in terms of a U-Value. Freefoam profiles, due to the composition of their cellular inner core, offer thermal performance far superior to timber or other natural building products. Due to the varying nature of the profiles in terms of configuration and thickness, thermal performance can only be generalised to between 0.06 and 0.1 W/mK.

Thermal Movement

Expressed as the coefficient of linear expansion, Freefoam profiles vary between 5 and 6 x 10-5 per degree Celsius. When fixed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, and in the British Isles, they perform satisfactorily. They should not be installed where ambient temperatures are likely to exceed 40 degrees, such as in close proximity to boiler flues. They should only be installed when the external air temperature is between 0 and 30 degrees. The thermal movement that occurs between day and night, sun and cloud, winter and summer should be allowed for as described in the installation recommendations.

Weather Resistance

The impermeable external skin and closed cell structure of the core material makes Freefoam roofline profiles resistant to water and the elements.
