Roof Technology are authorised installers of Rubberbond EPDM single ply flat roofing membrane, this product is sometimes confused with the term Rubber roofing. In fact EPDM is not rubber but is a synthetic product. The Rubberbond EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is the only EPDM fleece-backed membrane on the market. This unique product offers a overall thickness 2.54mm compared with other non fleece-backed product s that vary in thickness from 1.14mm to 1.52mm. The Polyester reinforced fleece on the Rubberbond EPDM offers 40% greater puncture resistance & 180% greater tear resistance than non fleece-backed membranes. Whilst improving the strength of the EPDM the fleece also acts as a barrier to prevent any potential chemical reaction between any residues left on a stripped roof deck and the EPDM

Rubberbond EPDM flat roofing membranes are fully adhered to the sub straight with high strength water based adhesive that allows quick bonding. Laps and flashings are bonded using a solvent based contact adhesive this produce also allows quick bonding. Roof penetrations and other roof flashings are created with pressure sensitive elastoform uncured EPDM membrane; this very malleable product is highly adaptable and so is ideal for irregular shapes and surfaces. Edging details are finished and sealed with plasticoated metal trims that give a crisp clean finish to perimeter detail.
The Rubberbond Flat roofing membrane come in widths of 3.05m and 1.50m these size of membrane provides manageable amounts of material enabling our installers to fit the flat roof covering to exacting specifications on site. This is in contrast to other single sheet EPDM products that are cut and prepared away from site, and are therefore cumbersome and difficult to work with.
The superior and cost effective alternative to roof protection
The cost of a Rubberbond EPDM flat roof installation is comparable with the better quality felt roofing products. Whilst the life expectancy of the felt flat roofing products have improved, the Rubberbond Flat roofing system has a life expectancy in excess of 40 years (BBA Certificate no 02/3967) Thus giving fantastic value for money in comparison to felt flat roofing.
Many modern felt roofs still need to be covered in chippings. Chippings are put onto felt roofs for a number of different reasons including: To reflect the heat from the sun, to stop UV radiation degrading of the felt. However, chippings cause more problems than they solve. They cover bad workmanship, sunken boards and standing water, encourage the growth of plants and moss and block downpipes and soakaways. Standing or ponding water can be a problem with felt roofs (over time felt can become pourous and therefore allow the ingress of water). Rubberbond EPDM roofs will not deteriate on areas where water ponds. One of the most common causes of leaks on a felt roof is on the perimeter flashings because the material cannot be protected by chippings , over time the green mineral felt flashings, start to perish and crack. This is where the majority of felt roofs break down and start to leak.
Rubberbond EPDM membranes do not need any protective covering, the EPDM is impervious to UV radiation and will not shrink‚ crack‚ craze or split. The strong yet flexable nature of this product allows it to move withe the building without compromising its waterproofing integrity.
